   The Scottish Borders is famous for its textiles industry and one of the most famous designers to come from the region is Shirley Pinder.


Based in Melrose, her beautiful scarves are often commissioned by the Royal Academy in London to complement major art exhibitions in the UK and Europe. Notably, the Queen was presented with a scarf from Pinder’s tartan collection at the opening ceremony of the refurbished Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery in Glasgow in 2006.

Treat yourself to some beautiful and original handmade jewellery by renowned designer Sheila Fleet, who is originally from Orkney. Her designs are inspired by the islands’ history, folklore and environment and the items are handmade in Kirkwall by a team of skilled craftspeople. The island's wonderful landscape feaures across her collections. There are Fleet’s jewellery in Edinburgh and Glasgow and visit her workshop in Orkney.
